The Winners Revealed!
The Grand Honorary Award goes to China’s works and the Qatar Airways People’s Choice Award goes to Mother Earth
The International Mosaïculture Committee is proud to announce the works of art that won the International Jury’s Grand Honorary Award, the Qatar Airways People’s Choice Award and the Frédéric Back Award. The award ceremony will take place tonight during the closing gala at Montreal’s City Hall, in the presence more than 150 dignitaries and guests of honour. The city of Shanghai’s A True Story! and the city of Beijing’s Planting Plane Trees to Attract the Phoenix have won ex aequo the International Jury’s Grand Honorary Award. Some twenty national and international works are awarded.
The public also chose its favorite creation by voting for the Qatar Airways People’s Choice Award. Mother Earth, Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal’s creation, captivated visitors and won their vote. Although, Mosaïcultures Internationales de Montréal’s works were shown outside of the competition (because Montreal hosts the competition), they remained eligible for the Qatar Airways People’s Choice Award.
About 25 Creations awarded
Among the fifty works displayed at MIM2013, the jury awarded about 25 of them, on both the national and international levels. The jury used the following specific criteria : compliance with the general theme, Land of Hope; embodiment of the participant’s specific culture; composition and quality of the work and the use of innovative techniques by the artists in the subject development and use of materials. Congratulations to every winners and creators who took part of MIM2013.

Montreal Innovation: The Living City (Ville-Marie Borough)
Environment: Water, Source of Life (L’Assomption)
Land of Hope : The Family Tree (Mercier—Hochelaga –Maisonneuve Borough and Rosemont—La Petite-Patrie Borough)
International Committee Award : Near the City of Gold (Val d’Or)
Grand Honorary Award: ex æquo A True Story! (Shanghai, Chine) and Planting Plane Trees to Attract the Phoenix (Beijing, Chine)
Honorary 3D Award: Hamamatsu, City of Creativity: Looking Toward the Future Through a Symbiosis of Man and Nature (Hamamatsu, Japon)
Gold Medal 3D: ex æquo The Insects Garden (Province de Hainaut, Belgique) et Small Clown Fish and Anemone (Okinawa Churashima Foundation, Japon)
Gold Medal 2D : Gypsy girl-Gaïa (Gaziantep, Turquie)
Bronze Medal 3D : ex æquo Memories of a Childhood Dinner (La Moselle, France) and Go with the Flow (Mexico)
Design Prize : The Salamander According to Gaudí (Barcelona, Catalogne)
Culture Prize : Farmers: The People Who Feed the World (San Luis Obispo, California)
Environment : Fragiles grenouilles (Atlanta, United State)
